About Hans Mayer...
Hans Mayer plays ear-tickling, child oriented music with an irresistable sense of humor. People of all ages are immediately attracted to his playful, fun-loving personality and his magical, memorable songs that stimulate imaginations while building self-esteem.
Singing and playing guitar, mandolin and Native American flute - and even adding sound effects when the song call for it - Hans has enchanted audiences across the East coast, Midwest and most recently the Northwest, and his seven albums are hits with both kids and their parents. In 2000, his "Star of the Swing Set" CD was named a Parents' Choice Foundation Award Recommendation Selection.
"Mayer's mellow voice, a playful spirit and jazzy instrumentals enliven varied songs targeting a wide range, from the 'Peek-A-Boo' set to kids old enough for Halloween chills and thrills", - Lynne Heffley of Parents Choice.
In addition to children's music, Mayer has toured and recorded with Native American recording artist Bill Miller, appearing on the Today Show, Austin City Limits, the World Cafe and the recent PBS special "Songs of the Spirit". Miller and Mayer have opened for top acts including Willie Nelson, Tori Amos, Pearl Jam and the BoDeans.
"You Are The Rain", a song co-written by Mayer and Miller, was recently selected for the soundtrack of the Rick Schroder independent film "Black Cloud". Hans has performed and recorded with a number of Midwest rock and bluegrass bands. He recently narrated "Peter and the Wolf" with the La Crosse Symphony Orchestra.
"A Hans Mayer concert..fun, fantastic, energetic, silly, squeals of laughter, singing by all present, bodies moving and everyonbe having a great time!": - Peggy Green, West Salem Elementary School
